“If you enjoy the intersection of traditional country music and side-splitting humor, The doohickeys will be right for you”
Saving Country Music
“The Doohickeys combine a deep respect for traditional country music with a quirky sense of humor to create something unique. While listeners will find humor in their songs, the music is seriously good. Don’t sleep on these country up-and-comers.”
— American Songwriter
“The Doohickeys are the next big thing!”
— Zach McCollum, SiriusXM Outlaw Country

The tall tale
The Doohickeys consists of singing and writing duo Haley Spence Brown & Jack Hackett. Haley hails from Liberty, Missouri, where she spent her childhood training horses and helping on her grandpa's cattle farm. Jack grew up in a strict Japanese-American household in Atlanta, Georgia where you had to take your shoes off at the door (everything else was pretty lax).
These country wordsmiths bring a humorous twist to their unique brand of country music—an intentional mix of traditional and contemporary, laced with clever jokes and just the right amount of stupidity. Although they might seem to be twisted country punsters on the surface, they're that and so much more.
While they have country roots, Jack and Haley met at USC (FIGHT ON!) while working on the college TV station's satirical news show. They both were pursuing careers in comedy and made a multitude of sketches together. On one fateful evening in November 2021, Jack was hosting his legendary weekend-after-Halloween party when Haley heard Kenny Chesney echoing through the spookily decorated halls. Right then, they discovered their mutual love of country music and began writing their own.
The duo’s shenanigans have earned them 123k Instagram followers, 56k on TikTok, and 25k on Facebook, with more than 50 million views on their self-produced, tongue-in-cheek videos.
The band has performed at notable venues such as the famous Bluebird Cafe, Desert 5 Spot, The Hotel Cafe, The Hollywood Improv, and even the prestigious Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN (supporting comedian Jim Jefferies). You can usually find them prowling around the LA music scene, delivering their unique spin on country music to anyone looking for a fun time.
MUSIC
The Doohickeys debut album All Hat No Cattle (40 Below Records) dropped in January 2025. Saving Country Music called it one of 2025’s most anticipated albums: “If you’re going to make a country album, you might as well make it right. That’s what The Doohickeys did.” Ink19 praised it as “unpretentious… pure country at its best.”
Produced by two-time Grammy nominee Eric Corne, the album features an all-star lineup including Eugene Edwards (Dwight Yoakam), Hayley Orrantia (The Goldbergs), comedian Jim Jefferies, and Skip Edwards (Desert Rose Band). The record made waves: “Can’t Beat My Ol’ Beater” hit #1 on SiriusXM Outlaw Country, the album charted at #21 on Americana Radio, and made it in the Top 100 Americana Radio Airplay Albums of 2025. The music video for “Rein It In Cowboy” (dir. Jack Hackett & Chris Beyrooty) won the American Songwriter Lights, Camera, Talent Promotion Music Video Contest.
The Doohickeys followed up by ‘sleighing’ the charts with their all-original Christmas EP Merry Happy Whatever, a festive and slightly naughty collection of songs like “Santa Needs a Beer” and “Put It On Credit.” They made a music video for all of the tracks on the EP, with “Santa Is A Stoner” going viral across platforms. The EP charted at #46 on the Americana Radio charts. SiriusXM’s Outlaw Country picked up all five songs for airplay and SiriusXM’s Red, White and Booze had “Santa Needs a Beer” on repeat.
Reminder: The Doohickeys still aren’t dating. Please stop asking.
